How one consultant’s compassion helped connect a grieving client with vital support.
We often say that probate is about people, not paperwork, and sometimes, the most meaningful help we can offer isn’t legal at all.
One of our consultants Chris recently supported a gentleman following the loss of his wife. During their conversations, it became clear that he was feeling isolated and struggling to adjust after her passing, a feeling many bereaved partners experience but rarely voice.
Rather than simply focusing on the probate process, Chris took the time to listen and recognised that a little extra support could make a real difference. With the family’s permission, they reached out to a national armed forces charity that provides companionship and wellbeing support for veterans and their loved ones.
Thanks to that introduction, the client is now being matched with a volunteer for regular friendship calls, offering comfort, company, and conversation during a very difficult time.
The charity later wrote to share:
“We’re pleased to let you know that your referral has helped connect someone in real need with our Telephone Friendship Service. They will soon be receiving regular calls from a volunteer, providing ongoing emotional support and social connection.”
Chris summed it up best in their response:
“I’m so pleased, this kind of support will make a real difference. We’re always here to help further if needed, offering free guidance to anyone who has lost a loved one. Serving armed forces personnel and veterans also receive a generous discount on our probate and administration services.”
This story is a reminder that the smallest act of care can have the biggest impact.
