Death is something that touches every one of us. Yet, for such a universal experience, it often remains one of the least talked about topics in daily life. At Laurelo, we believe in changing that. We believe in open conversations, honest support, and making sure nobody has to face grief alone, especially children.
The Facts We Don’t Talk About Enough
Here are a few truths that are rarely part of everyday conversation, but should be:
- One in 29 children has experienced the death of a parent or sibling. That’s roughly one child in every classroom.
- One in five adults will experience the death of someone close to them before the age of 18.
- Many people are left feeling unsupported, unprepared, and uncertain about where to turn when someone dies.
Behind these numbers are real lives, real families, and very real emotions. And when it comes to children and young people, the impact of grief can be profound and long lasting, especially without the right support in place.
Why We’ve Chosen to Support Child Bereavement UK
In light of this, we’re proud to announce Child Bereavement UK as Laurelo’s official charity partner for 2025.
Child Bereavement UK supports children and young people (up to the age of 25), parents, and families when a child grieves or when a child dies. Their work in schools, hospitals and communities across the UK is helping to reshape how our society talks about death and how we support those affected by it.
From providing specialist training for teachers and healthcare professionals to offering direct support to families, their mission is simple but powerful: to make sure no child grieves alone.
Why It Matters to Us
Our team at Laurelo spends every day helping families through the legal and emotional process of bereavement. We see the pain and confusion that often follows a death. We know that grief isn’t one size fits all, and we understand how isolating it can be, especially for children and teenagers who may not have the words to express what they’re feeling.
By supporting Child Bereavement UK, we’re helping ensure that families not only get the probate guidance they need from us, but that they also have access to emotional support and resources tailored to their experience.
This partnership is a natural extension of our ethos: to put people first, always.
Let’s Talk About Death
Talking about death won’t make it happen. But talking about it might make it a little easier when it does. If we can help make these conversations more normal, more compassionate, and more human, then we’re doing something right.
